Eager and Igor

One of the biggest projects I’ve worked on has been the commission for a children’s book illustrations, where two young eagles utilize affirmations to find themselves. The story begins with a young, put-together, and confident Eager as he sings his affirmations into the local pond. Over the course of the story, he runs into Igor – a disheveled, hunched eagle with self-confidence issues. Eager gives Igor his bowtie as a physical representation of their flowering friendship and teaches Igor about how positive affirmations can be life-changing.

This was a three-month process that started with character designs. Once the client signed off to begin the storyboarding process, I sent two different thumbnails for each page to choose from. There were four total stages: Thumbnails, sketch, linework, finished deliverables. With each step being okay’d, we were able to fly through this challenging and engaging project.

SMALL FANTASY PROJECTS

Verus, MTG, DnD, and Dark Arts Circus

These are all smaller-scale projects I’ve created for clients over the past few months.

Four characters are for a homebrew Tabletop called Verus, depicting two separate species. The more alien species – the Ajjnaci – have skin and internal organs that are hypersensitive to the gases found in natural worlds. They cover in head to toes robes and leather and are known for their powerful magic. The others, the Veri, are the most human of the playable species choices. A mix between old-world and high-tech, it was extremely fun to try and meld everything together for them.

The two MTG cards were commissioned as a surprise for a client’s husband. The portraits were drawn in Procreate while the cards were customized and assembled in Illustrator.

A poster for the Dark Arts Circus was also a dual-application project. The devil and hellhound were done in Procreate, and the poster was done in Illustrator.

For the Dungeons and Dragons party, it was a request from a friend and client. They provided a handful of references and a lengthy description of each and gave me complete freedom on how I wanted to assemble everything.

A CUSTOM CARD GAME

What is the game about?

A world filled with orcs, goblins, and trolls that fight it out. It’s free-to-play, turn-based, and if you visit <URL HERE>, you can find the whole manual and a link to digitally download the cards.

How can I commission something like this for my game?

When you submit a contact forum, I will be in touch within 24-48 hours. From there, we’ll discuss through email what you’re looking for and how I can help you bring your project to life.

Can I get customized portraits, or do you offer templates?

Almost all projects are custom to order, since there are so many differences in each commission I receive. Templates for character sheets are currently in the works, though, so watch out for my next announcement!

How long does this process take?

Anywhere from two weeks to three months. It depends on what your vision is, how much time goes into each piece, if you want color or black and white, if you want a sketchy look versus perfected line art. Each decision can impact the deadline, but I will work with you on it.

What’s the cost of a project this big?

Again, this is different for each project. When we have an initial consultation, I can give you a rough estimate.
